Visit Southwest Harbor, Maine

Southwest Harbor is one of Maine's best kept secrets. This quaint and vibrant small Maine town is the jewel of Mt. Desert Island. Surrounded by Acadia and the quiet beauty of one of our country's most beloved national parks.

Southwest Harbor is a working harbor filled with lobster-men and their boats bringing in their daily catch. Which is great news as there is no shortage of fresh great tasting lobster.

This picturesque harbor is the home to the finest yachts and sail boats in the world. Made right here by renown boat builders Hinckley and Morris Yachts to name just a few.

Southwest Harbor Maine is less than 12 miles from the town of Bar Harbor.

About the design: I was invited up to Maine by my friends at The Harbour Cottage Inn in July of 2009. While I was there I toured around and took some photos, you can see them here on My Maine page. I enjoyed doing this site, I can still taste the lobster, the blueberries, the salt air, the breakfast at the Harbour Cottage Inn. The natural beauty is hard to believe too, the photos do not capture the beauty, rather they hint at it. The site really only had two challenges creating all those site badges and then rotating them on page loads.
